15 districts, 42 teams and about 175 4th grade students competed in the Elementary CalcuSolve hosted by Mrs. Maureen Anderson of Brentwood. Our team earned first place and one member earned overall individual third place! All students did an amazing job. Take a look at the posted questions, provided by Mrs. Anderson, and see if you can figure them out!

4th and 5th graders competed against other students using their knowledge of 5 books: The Crossover, The Mysterious Benedict Society, The Wright 3, Gifted and Super Gifted. Students earned points at trivia stations, a break out box station, character identification and a pictionary-like game. Thanks to Washington Park Elementary for hosting!
Our 6th-grade teams competed in trivia and creativity challenges based on 5 books: The Voyage of the Frog, Bomb, The Wednesday Wars, Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie and The Twenty-One Balloons.
The Vocabulary Station: Students had to identify vocabulary words from the texts based on clues.
Performing Arts Station: Teams chose a novel and one of the following to script, rehearse and perform: a song about a character, a journalistic-style report on a character or event, or would-be voice mail recordings by 3 different characters. The boys chose a song. The girls chose a report.
Trinity Area SD hosted this year's Seaperch event. Teams from Trinity, Fort Cherry, Burgettstown and Canon-Mac competed in 4 categories: search and rescue, finesse, obstacle course and redesign. Three Canon-Mac teams tied for first -two from NSI and one from CI. Another NSI team placed second!
My favorite 6th-grade smiles!
