5th graders traveled to the Heinz History Center to compete against 32 other teams in their division. Our team of "Rosies" took home first place! Congratulations, girls! Both teams worked to earn points at the following exhibits: Pittsburgh: A tradition of Innovation, Western PA Sports Museum, Sigo Falk Collections Center and the Heinz Exhibit.
We got creative and competitive today! Thanks McGuffey School District and Mrs. Walters for a fun morning. Our two teams tied with other participating teams for first and third places! Halloween themed stations including Kahoot Trivia, Math Brain Busters, a Candy Corn Tower Challenge and Make and Break Secret Code Stations were a hit. Thanks to a partnership between the NFL and United Way 5th and 6th grade gifted support students from NSIS got a special treat today! Arthur Moats, outside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers, held a live meeting with our students and a few other Pittsburgh area classrooms. He talked about the importance of good character and choices, how the media might not always be painting an accurate picture, and how we should always remember to work hard and believe in ourselves. We got our rally towels ready to show how pumped we were! Cali was selected (we picked a name from a box) to ask Arthur Moats a question. Cali asked, "What advice would you give your middle school self?" Listen to his answer!
